Easter 2012

Well here are the pics from our Easter Sunday. Three Easter egg hunts, two delicious dinners, and one church service celebrating our Lord's resurrection we managed to fit into one day and only got the kids to bed 15 minutes late.  We started the day by seeing what the Easter bunny had left for us in our baskets and after breakfast he left more outside to hunt down.  Then after a gummy bear snack, it was off to church for the real celebration.  We went to Grandma B's house next where we took part in her neighborhood's Easter egg hunt.  Each kiddo got about a dozen eggs filled with everything from pennies, to candy, to costume jewelry.  Then finally a visit to Grandma and Grandpa K's for dinner with great-grandparents and great aunts and uncles, aunts and uncles, and cousins.  And, yes, another easter-egg hunt.  Mom and Dad are going to try and do a better job on the candy.  After all, Halloween and Christmas candy is still lingering.  I just feel so guilty eating it when its theirs rightfully and feel bad giving it to them to eat every night just for the sake of getting through it.  Well, we had a great day and I am so grateful to have spent it with family.  We also got a special visit by Aunt Rach the day before but it was so fast I quite forgot to pick up the camera.  We loved having you so much!

Visitng the Farmstead

A week ago, we went for the first time to a heritage farm that is close to our home.  The kids have seen all of these animals from far away but have never had to the chance to touch or be this close to anything but their Grandma and Grandpa K's horse.  We went my my Aunt who took her children to it years ago and wanted a reason to revisit it.  It has farm animals to see, as well as animals that were indigenous to the state before settlers.  They have a one room school house and a general store.  The farm is free to visit Monday-Thursday and only $2 on the weekend.  We partook in some small activities like feeding baby goats and fishing in the pond and playing on the playgrounds.  It was a fun day.  Super hot outside for April 2nd hence the tank top for the wee one.

Yes, they are "milking the cow" though only water is coming out of it.  Hayden had no reservations giving those udders a milking.

I think he thought it was acting like a little dog.  He sat down right there with it.  He's my little Dr. Doolittle.  Has a big heart for animals.

He keeps telling me that one day when he gets older, he'll be able to pick up one of those baby goats.  He was giving it his best shot.

Little Man Starts Soccer

Hayden is now old enough to take part in some soccer programs.  He has done gymnastics in the past and loved it and we thought we would start introducing him to the idea of a physical game with rules.  In this outdoor league for the little ones, there is a 25 minute practice and then a game following.   There is a lot of parents yelling "NO! go the other way"  and "Please stop laying on the goals".  But it does just start getting them comfortable with the idea of a game.  One ball and actually being allowed to take it from the other kid.  I mean shocking, taking the ball from someone when we've worked so hard to get them to share right?  Kind of funny.  Not only that, but you can only use your feet to take it away.  No wonder they look at us like we're crazy.  Occasionally, the more physically aggressive boys would form a dog pile on the a kid who got tired of it and laid on the ball in a fetal position.  Mainly, it was like herding cats.  One can only hope that at the end of the 8 weeks, he'll want to keep learning this game and have a basic understanding.  Its pretty precious to see this little guy in his soccer getups though!

Meeting his very young coach

Does this guy look ready?  More of a basketball pose, but still, in the zone.

Love the shinguards.  Had no idea that they made them this small.  He was worried when he got a grass stain on them.

A little team meeting.
